Drunk man leaps before Governor's convoy
Kolkata, Dec 24 (UNI) A drunk man leaped before the convoy of West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi when he was returning to the Raj Bhavan from Jadavpur University this afternoon.
The incident occurred near Ballygunge when Jayanta Ganguly (35), a resident of Patuli, suddenly threw himself before the convoy.
He miraculously escaped unhurt.
Ganguly, found in inebriated condition, was first taken to Gariahat police station and then to Lalbazar, the police headquarters. He was later identified as a travel agent.
A medical test confirmed that he was drunk.
''He is now being interrogated by city police officials and intelligence department. Police are now trying to locate the exact motive behind the incident,'' police sources said.
