Islamabad, Dec 24: Former Pakistan prime minister and PML(N) chief Nawaz Sharif today said democracy would emerge victorious after the general elections next month. Addressing a public meeting in connection with his election campaign in Sukkur, the Pakistan Muslim League leader said his party was struggling for restoration of real democracy where 160 million people have full opportunity to decide about their future.

He also said every Pakistani should play his role for restoration of democracy and its promotion, safety of all basic rights of civil society and for economic strength of the country. Mr Sharif said the January 8 elections were for the survival of Pakistan, and people would have to reject everyone responsible for the current ''lawlessness and anarchy'' in the country.

Deposed judges would be reinstated if the PML(N) came into power, the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted him as saying.
