Congress seeks benefit as Mamata criticises Modi

Kolkata, Dec 24 (UNI) Congratulating the Trinamool Congress for criticising Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, West Bengal Congress today invited Mamata Banerjee to come and form a secular, democratic and progressive front to fight the ruling Left Front led by the CPI (M).

''Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is a product of religious communal BJP and we are appreciating Ms (Mamata) Banerjee for condemning the Modi's government and its win over Gujarat assembly election.'' ''So it was the appropriate moment for her to severe ties with the BJP and NDA and form a progressive, secular and democratic front in West Bengal for befitting reply to communal forces and the CPI(M),'' CLP leader Manas Bhuiya told a news conference today.

'' Ms Banerjee is not happy for Modi's win and as a recognised Opposition party (AITC) she should come out from the NDA and take intiative for forming the front '' he said.

''We would salute her if she come out from the BJP's shadow and she should respond to our clarion call,'' Mr Bhuiya said.
