Kathmandu, Dec 24 (UNI) CPN-UML General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal today suggested holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections on April 5 of the coming year.

The Unified Marxist Leninist General Secretary stated that it would be better to hold the CA polls on the historic date of April 8, as on the same day in 1990, democracy was declared in the country ending over 30-years of Panchayat rule. He also revealed that yesterday's seven-party meeting also reached such an agreement, and the Election Commission has also expressed its intention to hold the polls on the same date.

Talking to journalists , Mr Nepal said it would make no difference even if the Madhesi leaders quit their posts of lawmakers and ministers to form a new Madhes front.

He also informed that the renunciation by Madhesi UML leaders would not matter to the party as they were ''creating trouble for the party''.

Mr Nepal said the resignations tendered by the Maoist ministers would be accepted and the Maoists will enter the ruling alliance with a new leadership.

The UML leader also appealed to the Madhesi leaders to come for a dialogue to ensure the CA elections as the demands of the agitating groups in Terai had been fulfilled after yesterday's consensus among the seven parties.
