Clash between two communities leaves five hurt in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Dec 24 (UNI) Five persons were injured in a clash between two communities at Brahamigaon village under Baliguda subdivision of Phulbani district today.
Police said the problem arose while the members of the Kui community opposed some people trying to construct a gate to celebrate the Christmas on a disputed land.
This led to a clash and exchange of fire between the two communities in which two members of the Kui community sustained gun shot injuries.
The situation turned worse when Swami Laxamananda Sarswati of Chakapada Ashram was attacked by the other community while he was proceeding with his followers to see the injured persons.
Swami Laxmananda and two of his followers were injured in the attack.
Revenue Divisional Commissioner, District Collector, Superintendent of Police and senior officers have rushed to the spot.
The autority has moved 20 platoons of police force as tension prevailed in the area after the clash.
The district authority has convened a peace committee tomorrow to resolve the issue between the two communities.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police( Southern Range) R P Koche was supervising the law and order situation.
