Pursuit of knowledge, real source of progress: Nobel laureate

Tirupati, Dec 23 (UNI) The pursuit of knowledge was the real source of progress, according to Nobel Laureate Roger D Kornberg.

Delivering a lecture on 'Knowable Nature of Scientific Truth' at the two-day national conference on 'Science and Spiritual Quest' here today, he said the pursuit of knowledge was the intrinsic value of intellectual activity. It was not only an expression of a deep impulse and a core value, but also a force for toleration, he said.

''It was true that science and religion seek to explain the mysteries of our existence and universe,'' the Nobel prize winner in Chemistry said, adding that their purposes were similar, though the conclusions reached were profoundly different. Both science and religion were reflections of humanity, he added.
