Police station in charge suspended

Ferozabad, Dec 23 (UNI) A police station in charge here has been suspended for lathicharge on a group of girl students, protesting the murder of their school principal yesterday.

Several girls were wounded and some even fell unconscious in the lathicharge.

The policeman concerned cop, Taslim Ahmad, has been suspended, official sources today said.

Principal of Sant Gyaneshwar School Santosh Thakarey (49) and his wife were fired upon by armed assailants in Rasoolpur area Friday night.

While Santosh died on the spot, his wife was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Yesterday, a mob of students and locals blocked the Kanpur-Agra National Highway to demand immediate arrest of the accused.

Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob, which retaliated by brickbatting, in which several policemen were also wounded.

A named FIR was lodged against three people in connection with the murder.
