Kappan blends new-age graphics with cartoon
Bangalore, Dec 23: Mixing new-age graphics with the double-edged, wit-laced art of cartooning, city-based journalist and artist Rasheed Kappan takes a fresh look at a time-tested medium.
The young artist had attracted notable visitors to the week-long exhibition of his cartoons at Alliance Franchise, that ended here yesterday, with his new form of 'graficatures', which had portrayed Bangalore and its effervescence in a comic, yet quasi-serious light, crossing the fine line between graphics, design and cartoon.
The exhibition theme 'dupli-CITY' had zoomed into the different shades of the veritable medley of people and attitudes, state-controlled excesses and individual drive.
Graficatures was Kappan's fifth exhibition and his first solo. He had confounded 'Cartoonists Unanimous', a unique collective of cartoonists.
Kappan's journalistic background in The Hindu and The Times of India peppers his works with a contemporary, real-life feel. He would soon be joining as the Chief Reporter (City page) of the Deccan Herald.
