Classical dance and music extravaganza to enthrall Kochiites

Kochi, Dec 23 (UNI) A treat of classical dance and music is in store for Kochiites with the Kerala Government's Tourism Department organising a culture festival, featuring renowned performers such as Amjad Ali Khan and Malvika Sarukkai, here from December 26.

The six-day festival will be inaugurated by State Tourism and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishanan at the Durbar Hall Grounds on December 26. The inaugural function will be followed by a sarod recital by renowned performer Amjad Ali Khan.

On the following days, there would be performances by 'ghazal' singer Talat Aziz, Mohiniyattam by Deepti Omcherry Bhalla, Kuchipudi by Vaijyanthi Kashi, Bharatnatyam by Malvika Sarukkai and a grand finale of Carnatic and Hindustani 'jugalbandi' on the New Year Eve by Pandit Revi Kiran and Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Ernakulam District Collector A P M Mohammad Hanish said here today.
