5 killed, three injured in accident in AP

Rajahmundry, Dec 23: Five people were killed on the spot and three others injured when a lorry in which they were travelling rammed a high tension electric tower at Vemagiri, near here, today.

Police sources told the sources that the accident occurred when the victims who were travelling on the lorry, were on their way to Burrulanka near Ravulapalem from Bommuru for attending an electric work.

The driver of the lorry lost control after its tyre bursted and overturned after hitting the tower, the sources added.

The deceased, Ullakaiah (35), U Yesu (40), M Raju (30), A Nageswara Rao (35) and B Daniel (30), were taken to Rajahmundry Government Hospital for post-mortem, while the injured were also admitted to the same hospital where their condition was stated to be stable, the sources added.
