Top Maoist leader in prison

Hyderabad, Dec 22 (UNI) CPI Maoist Central Committee Member M Raji Reddy alias Sattenna and his wife and Maoist Member Sangita, arrested at Anganamaly in Kerala on December 18, were today lodged in Cherlapalli Central Prison.

After taking the Maoist leader and his wife into custody, the Andhra Pradesh Police produced them before the First Clsss Judicial Magistrate of Metpalli in Karim Nagar District yesterday where Magistrate G Malathi remanded the couple in judicial custody till January 3.

The police also filed a petition seeking custody of the couple for investigation into several cases. The arguments on the petition would be heard on December 24.

Reddy was reportedly involved in many cases, including six murders, five landmine blasts, one of which killed Former Assembly Speaker D Sripada Rao and IPS Officer C Umesh Chandra.
