Superstition kills newspaper hawker

Balasore, Dec 22 (UNI) A man was brutally murdered in tribal dominated Nilgiri block yesterday, allegedly on the directions of a 'tantrik'.

Police here today said one Purna Chandra Singh hit Pitambar Nanda (55), a newspaper hawker, and hacked him to death near Patna village in between Mitrapur and Ayodhya in the district.

The police said the accused committed the crime on the directions of a ''tantrik'', who reportedly asked him to appease the god to help him overcome his miseries.

The accused was severely beaten up by an mob but later admitted in the Nilgiri sub-divisional hospital .

A case had been registered against the accused.
