Putin declared 'Person of the Year'
Russia/USA, 20 Dec, 2007 : Russian President Vladimir Putin as "Person of the Year" for 2007 on Wednesday the 19th of December. Putin was conferred the title for bringing his country "roaring back to the table of world power."
Putin, was a former KGB official who was picked from obscurity in 1999 by then-president Boris Yeltsin. Times Magazine Managing editor Richard Stengel announced Putin's selection on a U.S. breakfast television show.
