Police seize spurious medicines, 2 arrested

Varanasi, Dec 21 (UNI) Police today raided a house at Nawapura under Jaitpura area and seized spurious medicines worth several lakhs of rupees and arrested two people.

The police acting on a tip off raided the medicine factory along with the health department officials.

The team arrested two persons, including the owner of the factory Dimple Gupta and his associate Sushil Kumar, a resident of Bihar.

Police recovered fake medicines of renowned companies and a large quantity of wrappers and stamps.

The team also raided his shop in Saptsagar area and recovered spurious medicines.

The total seized medicines were estimated at Rs 10 lakh.

Besides, supplying the spurious medicines in eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh, it was being supplied to Bihar too.
