“Today we need the spirit of sacrifice much more than before. We have to prioritise national interests over our individual interests for national strength, unity and prosperity," Musharraf said in his message on Eid ul Azha. “I join you in the development and progress of the country as a public representative and as a democratic president," The News quoted Musharraf, as saying.
Stressing upon the need to shun sectarian, regional and other differences, he said it must be ensured that democratic norms were implemented ahead of the forthcoming elections scheduled on January 8.
Soomro also urged the nation to rise above personal, regional and ethnic differences, and work for the development and progress of the country.
Drawing the attention of Pakistanis towards the challenges being faced by the country, Soomro said it was vital to address these challenges by inculcating the spirit of sacrifice, brotherhood, tolerance, peace and love.
