Indore, Dec 21 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today said the Madhya Pradesh government will bring forward assembly elections to May 2008.
Mr Singh told reporters here that the BJP government's tenure will finish in November when the problem of power crisis looms large.
Likewise, contracts for road maintenance were getting over in March.
''The government will prepone assembly elections in this view to May in next year,'' he said, adding that the Congress was ready for the polls.
Pointing out that new leadership was emerging in the state, he said a leader would be elected under Congress President Sonia Gandhi's guidance.
On the Congress declaring its Prime Ministerial candidate in view of the BJP doing so, Mr Singh said the Congress President would take a decision in this regard.
