CM lays foundation stone for IIIT

Nuzvid, Dec 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation stone for a new branch of IIIT here today.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the institute would be constructed in a phased manner at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore.

He said the institute would provide about 1,000 teaching and non- teaching jobs and fecilitate about 2,000 seats for engineering students by the year 2014.

Mr Reddy said the Nagarjuna Sagar Project and its canals would be modernised with an outlay of Rs 3,500 crore. The project would cover about 20,000 acres irrigation facility in the the Nuzvid area, he added.

Stating that free supply of power was very helpful to the farmers in the state, he said the government incurred heavy expenditure on free power supply.
