Chuharchak crossing gateman surrenders
Moga, Dec 21 (UNI) The absconding gateman of Chuharchak Nawan, whose actions to the rail-bus accident, surrendered before the Railway Police Station at Faridkot today.
The Railway Police produced the gateman, Kulwinder Singh, in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate B R Garg. The court remanded him to police custody upto December 22.
On December 14, Ludhiana-Firozepur bound Sutlej Express hit a mini-bus at Chuharchak crossing in the district, as the gateman allegedly opened the gate to facilitate the mini bus. As many as 16 people, including eight children, were killed in the accident.
A case against him was registered under sections 304 and 120-B of the IPC and section 175 of the Indian Railways Act.
The mini bus driver Iqbal Singh is still lying in the DMC Hospital at Ludhiana.
