Bareilly, Dec 20 (UNI) An active member of dreaded dacoit Naresha gang, Sarvesha, was gunned down this morning in a police encounter in Shahjahanpur district of Moradabad division.
The outlaw's kingpin Naresha was carrying a bounty of Rs one lakh, on his head, while Sarvesha, who is said to be the gangster's close aide, was carrying a reward of Rs 2,500.
IG (Bareilly zone) Gurbachan Lal said, ''Special Operation Group of police (SOG), in a joint operation with local police, encountered Sarvesha, alias Kotedar, in the jungles of Heerapur in Midanpur area.'' A rifle, a pistol and a large number of cartridges were recovered from his possession, he added.
On December 5, a police constable was killed in an encounter with Sarevsha. The wanted criminal, who was accused in several heinous crimes -- murder and abduction, had escaped then.
