Release five PSA detenues: J

Srinagar, Dec 19: Jammu and Kashmir High court has ordered the release of five people, detained under Public Safety Act (PSA).

The court gave the order on different petitions filed by the relatives of detenues challenging the detention.

Declaring the detention under PSA as unjustified and unlawful, the court quashed the detention after hearing arguments from defence counsel and prosecutor.

The court ordered their immediate release if the detenues were not sought in any other case. Those, whose release was ordered by the court included Nazir Ahmad Bhat, Fayaz Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Shafiq Sheikh and Mohammad Ramzan Khan.

The detenues lodged in different jails in Jammu were arrested for their alleged involvement in militancy related incidents.
