KMC to implement e-governance

Kolhapur, Dec 19 (UNI) Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) will soon implement ''e-governance'' for the benefit of the citizens.

Kolhapur mayor Sai Kharade and standing committee chairman Sunil Modi, addressing a joint press conference here today, said with the implementation of e-governance, citizens will get information quickly about property tax, octroi, birth and death certificates, and any other information.

About 400 KMC employees will be provided computer training to run the system successfully.

The KMC also proposes to set up a ''medical health city'' that will have modern equipments and facilities.

The KMC is also actively considering a proposal to develop the city's Gandhi Maidan and Dasara Chowk empty and also build a football stadium and an open air theatre on build, operate and transfer basis.
