Kunming, China, Dec 19: An Indian Army Contingent of 103 men arrived here today as part of the first-ever military exercises between India and China.

Aimed to counter terrorism, the joint training exercise follows from the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation signed between the two countries last year. Col J S Budhwar, who is leading the Indian side, said the exercise, beginning tomorrow, would help in developing trust in each other.

''This would prove useful as the two nations share a long border and faith in each other that would go a long way in creating a better understanding to tackle the menace of terrorism,'' he said, adding that this will certainly open new areas of cooperation between the two armies.

''Most of the countries were affected by different terrorist activities and it was necessary that we start cooperating with one another to erase it from the face of the world,'' Col Budhwar added.
