Darjeeling records lowest temperature so far
Kolkata, Dec 19 (UNI) Darjeeling today witnessed the coldest day so far with minimum temperature plummeting to five degrees Celsius.
Indian Meterological Department officials today said the entire North Bengal region was experiencing spine-chilling cold with Siliguri and Jalpaiguri recording a minimum temperature of 8.9 and 10.5 degree Celsius.
The temperature would drastically fall in the next few days, the Met department predicted.
Several places in the experienced a misty and foggy weather.
However, the sky remained clear for the rest of the day.
The weathermen also forecast that snowfall in Darjeeling would start during early January.
Meanwhile, the Alipore Met department informed that the minimum temperature recorded for Kolkata was 12.8 degree Celsius and is likely to be 13 degree Celsius tomorrow.
However, the cold wind that prevailed for the past few days had stopped thus providing relief to the citizens.
