Kuala Lumpur, Dec 19: The habeas corpus application filed for the release of Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) lawyer M. Manoharan, who was detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA), has been struck out by the Ipoh High Court.

Justice Muhamad Ideres Muhamad Rapee struck out the application on grounds that the copy of the detention order was not certified. DAP chairman Karpal Singh, who is representing Manoharan, said that he would file another application before the Kuala Lumpur High Court at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a motion to debate the detention of the five Hindraf leaders under ISA has been rejected by the Dewan Rakyat.

The motion was tabled by Karpal Singh DAP - Bukit Gelugor, the star Online reported. The five detained Hindraf leaders are P. Uthayakumar, M. Manoharan, R. Kenghadharan, V. Ganabatirau and T. Vasanthakumar.

Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib rejected the motion, saying that it was not of an urgent nature as the five were being detained under an existing law and the police were merely doing their job.
