Bharti Telesoft acquires Jataayu Software

Bangalore, Dec 19 (UNI) Bharti Telesoft, a global provider of integrated Value Added Service (VAS) solutions for mobile operators, today announced the acquisition of Jataayu Software, a WAP and mobile handset application player, as part of its growth strategy.

The acquisition would strengthen the company's offerings in new and existing markets, a release from Bharti Telesoft said here.

Jataayu's wholly-owned subsidiary in the US and offices in the UK,Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea would be added to Bharti Telesoft's existing operations across Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific Regions.

Bharti Telesoft would now have a presence in 14 countries worldwide, further consolidating its position as the leading Indian mobile VAS company in terms of global presence, revenues and employee base.

According to Bharti Telesoft CEO Manoranjan Mohapatra, ''we foresee immense potential in the union of Bharti Telesoft's and Jataayu's offerings.

''The WAP, MMS and IMPS capabilities of Jataayu fit well with Bharti Telesoft's messaging portfolio and will position us more favorably in the market by enhancing our offerings for the customer.

''The handset applications business will take us into a new, rapidly developing, and very important area, which is set to change dramatically in the near future.'' Overall, our customers were going to benefit from a wider portfolio of offerings and advanced R and D strength, he added.

Jataayu's current management team would continue to work within the combined company and contribute to its success.

Jataayu MD Mahesh Jain would continue in an advisory role for the coming year. There would be no changes to Bharti Telesoft's Board of Directors.
