Amicably settle Gujjars issue : Congress
New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) Terming the Gujjars issue as "sensitive," the Congress Party today said the Centre, Rajasthan Government and all the stakeholders should try for an "amicable settlement" of the issue.
The party, however, asked the BJP government in Rajasthan to make public the recommendations of the Justice Chopra Committee which went into the demand of the Gujjars for Scheduled Tribe status in the state.
"We don't know on what terms of reference was the Chopra Committee formed. Only the Rajasthan government can clarify," AICC Spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said.
The Committee was formed by the Rajasthan government a year ago after state-wide protests by the Gujjar community, resulting in deaths of many in violence.
