ACC files disproportionate assets cases against three


Dhaka, Dec 19: Giving another blow to politicians, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed disproportionate assets cases against Awami League general secretary Abdul Jalil, former commerce minister Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain's son Akhter Hamid Paban.

The ACC have accused them of acquiring wealth beyond their known sources of income and submitting false wealth statements to the commission, the New Age reported here.

The commission had found that Jalil owned illegal wealth of 65.20 lakh Taka and concealed information about 63.82 lakh Taka while Altaf Hossain Chowdhury was charged with owning an illegal wealth of 2.56 crore Taka.

The ACC also accused BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain's son Akhter Hamid Paban of concealing information of 1.02 lakh Taka in his wealth statement.
