'AP emerging as model state in healthcare'

said
Andhra
Pradesh
was
emerging
as
a
model
state
in
providing
health
care
to
people
with
the
introduction
of
Government's
innovative
health
schemes.
Inaugurating a newly-constructed lecture hall and hostel blocks of the Indian Institute of Health and Family Welfare here, he said the government had launched several health care programmes, including Aarogyasree Medical insurance scheme for the poor.
Stating that 20,000 lives were saved under 108 emergency health ambulance service, he said the government had spent Rs 40 crore for running the 104 health helpline system to provide immediate medical assistance to the needy.
He said under the National Rural Health Mission scheme, medical teams visited every village once in a fortnight to find out the health problems of people.
