Minister launches website on irrigation Projects

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah today said the Government had taken up Irrigation Projects under 'Jalayagnam' in a transparent manner to provide irrigated water to remote areas in the State.

Launching a Telugu website on Jalayagnam brought by a private software solutions in the city, he said the details of the projects had been incorporated in the website.

Mr Lakshmaiah said details on the availability of water, project costs, areawise distribution of water and expenditure on each project were available in the website.

The minister said under Jalayagnam, an ayacut of one crore acres would be created at an estimated cost of Rs one lakh crore. An amount of Rs 19,009 crore was incurred on projects in the last three years, he added.

He said to ensure good quality work, the Government had introduced 'Third Party Quality Control' by entrusting the responsibility to a Consultant.

The Government also held discusions with peoples representatives' and conducted an all-party meeting, before the commencement of the projects, he added.
