Chennai, Dec 17 (UNI) TNCC President M Krishnasamy today asked Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan not to embarrass the ruling DMK, by offering support to the banned LTTE.

Reacting to Mr Thirumavalan's reported remarks that there was nothing wrong in offering moral support to the LTTE, the Congress leader, in a statement here, said ''how can one offer moral support to LTTE, which was involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the leader of which was declared a proclaimed offender?'' After the assassination of Mr Gandhi, the LTTE was banned in the country to prevent it from indulging in terrorism in the state, Mr Krishnasamy said, adding ''any act of offering support to it, even on moral grounds, will be illegal.'' The Congress leader said, ''we have a saying that even Dharma has to be given only to the deserved'' and questioned whether offering moral support to Godse would not amount to justifiying the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.

Mr Krishnasamy appealed to the Dalit leader to avoid embarassing the DMK Government by making such remarks, especially after state Director General of Police (DGP) warned stern action against those who offered support to the LTTE.
