AP Govt reinstates PPA with BPL Power projects

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government today decided to reinstate the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with BPL Power Projects Private Limited by annulling the earlier termination by APTRANSCO.

Briefing newspersons after a cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here, State Information and Public Relations Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said the Government had permitted the BPL company to enhance the capacity from 520 mw to 600 mw at its thermal power project at Ramagundam in Karimnagar district with per mw cost not going beyond Rs 4.76 crore and with the levelised tariff at Rs 1.79 per Kwhr.

With this, the power cost would be reduced to Rs 1.79 from Rs 1.88 per unit and the total cost of the project would be reduced to Rs 176 crore.
