Absconding rape convict held in Delhi
New Delhi, Dec 17 (UNI) An absconding criminal, who had fled from police custody in Uttar Pradesh last month after being sentenced to death for raping and murdering a minor girl, was arrested here today.
DCP (Crime and Railways) Madhup Tewari told mediapersons that the convict Raja Ram Kushwaha alias Raju (24), hailing from Mahoba district in UP, was arrested from Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.
On receiving information that he would be coming to station, a police team apprehended him at the spot.
During interrogation, Raja admitted to having committed the rape and murder of a minor girl and that he had been convicted with death penalty. On November 23, he had escaped from police custody by jumping from a moving train in UP.
He further revealed that he had also been convicted in culpable homicide case by rigorous imprisonment of 8 years and a fine of Rs 5000.
