{image-G P_ Koirala03_16122007.jpg news.oneindia.in}Kathmandu, Dec 16: Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala today said the political parties were close to hammering out an agreement to end the political deadlock in the country.

Interacting with pro-left student leaders, the PM assured that the parties were close to a meeting point. Meanwhile, the meeting of the leaders of the Seven Party-Alliance (SPA) due to continue this morning has not resumed yet. On Dec 15, the top SPA leaders had agreed to hold the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections by mid-April, 2008. However, the leaders have not fixed a new date for the elections yet, Kantipur reported.

Following the decision of the SPA leaders last evening, a meeting of the cabinet prepared a bill to amend the interim constitution accordingly.
The SPA leaders had agreed to meet this morning to forge an agreement on the remaining outstanding issues.
