Paint brushes racket busted; 2 arrested

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) A racket involved in the manufacture and sale of paint brushes made from mongoose hair was busted here with the arrest of two persons and 751 brushes worth Rs 2.5 lakh were recovered, police said today.

On a tip-off that illegal trade was being carried out in Shastri Nagar area, the police recovered 360 brushes of different sizes and colours worth Rs 1.1 lakh in a raid on a shop and arrested its owner Ram Baksh Matta (65) yesterday.

On Batta's interrogation and subsequent revelation that he had been receiving the brushes from a factory situated in Kingsway Camp, the police raided the factory from where 391 brushes worth Rs 1.40 lakh were recovered. The owner of the factory Ram Saroop Arora (65) was also arrested, police added.
