NESCH files molestation case with Gurgaon police

New Delhi, Dec 14 (UNI) The Delhi based North East Support Center and Helpline (NESCH) today complained to the media against the indifferent and biased attitude of the Gurgaon police towards students and people of North Eastern Region (NER) who were frequently subjected to physical and mental torture.

The NESCH, in a press release issued here, said that when their team went to lodge an FIR against a Gurgaon landlord who several times tried to molest and rape a 17-year-old-girl, the police not only refused to register the case but tried to hush up the matter.

The police, on their own, called up the family members of the accused and asked them to resolve the matter. It was only when they failed to get through in that, did they file the case.

The local police still diluted the matter by registering it as a simple case between a tenant and the landlord.

The NESCH, in its complaint, said in reality the landlord on several occasions not only tried to molest the girl but also tried to outrage her modesty.

The NESCH was set up to render a helping hand to the students and people of the NER who were the victims of large scale discrimination and were subjected to sexual harrasment, the release added.
