Patiala, Dec 14 (UNI) The Additional Sessions judge Kuldeep Singh today sent Raman Kumar, former station house officer (SHO) allegedly involved in the Moga sex scandal, into CBI custody till December 22.

Raman Kumar had surrendered before Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), at Chandigarh, yesterday.

CBI brought him here to seek custodial remand to produce him in the CBI court here but as the CBI judge was on leave, the Bureau sought custody of Raman Kumar from Distt. Sessions Judge.

Though CBI had sought 14 days custody, the Judge has allowed only eight-day remand.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court had asked CBI to probe the case as names of political bigwigs and top cops had figured in case's status reports. It also ordered Raman Kumar to surrender before CBI on December 12.

The names of Moga's former SSP Davinder Singh Garcha, former education minister Tota Singh and his son Baljinder Singh have figured in the sex scandal proceedings.

The racket involves alleged extortion of money from ''innocent people'' by police officials in connivance with two women.
