CBDT chief to inaugurate induction course of IRS trainees 61st batch

Nagpur, Dec 14 (UNI) The induction course for the officer trainees of 61st batch of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) at the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) will be inaugurated by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman R Prasad here tomorrow.

A A Wijepala, Commissioner General, Inland Revenue Department of Sri Lanka, would be the guest of honour, NADT Director General Saroj Bala told the media here yesterday. The new batch would be having 136 trainee officers, including 42 women and two from neighbouring Bhutan, she said.

The induction training would last for 16 months, during which they would be coached in income tax laws, tax administration,accountancy and management, Ms Bala said. NADT has trained several tax officers from other countries, including Bhutan and Sri Lanka, and similar courses for officials from Sudan,Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in the offing, she informed.

In fact, the Government of Sri Lanka has sent a proposal to NADT to help them set up a similar facility in that country, Ms Bala added.
