132 water samples found not potable in Thane Dist

Thane, Dec 13: As many as 132 of total 1,614 water samples, drawn from various sources in the district, were found to be polluted and not potable.

The finding was revealed at a review meeting of the Nava Sanjivani Yojana for the district held here yesterday under the chairmanship of Tribal Development Minister Dr Vijaykumar Gavit.

The worst case was that of Bhiwandi this year, whereas Murbad topped the list last year.

Of the 41 samples drawn this year in Bhiwandi, 24 were found to be unfit, while in Murbad 39 were found to be unfit.

Last year, 205 of the total 1,920 samples drawn were found unfit for consumption.
