Islamabad, Dec 11: The Pakistan government has agreed to issue visas to international monitors to oversee the January 8 parliamentary elections in the country.

The News quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the government has agreed to issue visas to members of the International Republican Institute (IRI) to monitor the general elections.

The IRI is funded by the US government and conducts international political programmes sometimes labelled as ''democratisation programmes''.
