Pak govt to issue visas to poll monitors

The
Pakistan
government
has
agreed
to
issue
visas
to
international
monitors
to
oversee
the
January
8
parliamentary
elections
in
the
country.
The News quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the government has agreed to issue visas to members of the International Republican Institute (IRI) to monitor the general elections.
They said initially, a group of 65 people would be reaching here next week from different countries.
The IRI is funded by the US government and conducts international political programmes sometimes labelled as ''democratisation programmes''.
