Swaminarayan sect organises programme to mark centenary celebrations

Ahmedabad, Dec 10 (UNI) Bochasanvasi Akshar Purshottam Sansthan (BAPS), a sect of Swaminarayan religion, has organised a five-day long programme to mark its centenary celebrations in Chandkheda area of the city from December 13.

Addressing a news conference here, Dr Jayesh Mandanka said the BAPS Centenary Celebration will be celebrated in a series of grand cultural and devotional programmes.

He said the festival, organised under the inspiration of His Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, has been organised to celebrate a hundred years of service, sacrifice and spirituality.

Dr Mandanka said the cultural and devotional programmes will be held on the specially designed pillar-less stage, having width of 350 ft and height of 52 ft. It was built with the efforts of 237 volunteers and 33 Sawaminarayan sadhus.

The programmes will be performed on December 13, 14, 15 and 17.

No programme has been organised on December 16 as it is a voting-day for Gujarat Assembly polls, he added.
