Shahbad's Cooperative Sugar Mill awarded

Chandigarh, Dec 10 (UNI) Cooperative Sugar Mill, Shahbad in Kurukshetra district has got second prize in recovery area and technical efficiency from the National Cooperative Sugar Mills Federation, New Delhi for the year 2006-07.

While stating this here today, Shahbad Cooperative Sugar Mill Managing Director Gurmeet Singh said that the mill was the only sugar mills of Haryana which had received seven National Awards for technical skills and cane development till date.

The mill had earned net profit of Rs 9.98 crore and made about Rs 95.31 crore payments for the purchase of sugarcane to the farmers during the last year, he said.

He said that the mill had also made a record by crushing 71.67 lakh quintal cane and produced 7.25 lakh quintal sugar during the last crushing period.
