Reconstitute recently formed committees: Former Minister
Bangalore, Dec 10 (UNI) Former Education Minister G Parmeshwar today urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur to reconstitute the committees, set up for selecting vice-chancellors of various universities in Karnataka, with proper experts as their heads.
In a release here, Dr Parmeshwar said the recently appointed three committees had deviated from the earlier practice of appointing the selection committee with experts drawn from various universities.
Expressing concern over the issue, he said the appointment of IAS officers to such selection committees as heads would not augur well to promote autonomy among the universities.
The government had recently set up three committees with IAS officers as heads to appoint vice-chancellors to three universities.
