Fresh snowfall in Kashmir, several roads closed

Srinagar, Dec 10: The world famous Ski Resort of Gulmarg and other upper reaches in the Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall, leading to the closure of several roads while plains, including the city, had light rains since early this morning.

Drass, the world's second coldest place after Siberia experienced coldest night with minimum temperature dipping to minus 15 degrees while at Leh it was minus 11.8 degrees.

A report from Baramulla said the Kupwara-Karnah road had been closed after about three feet of fresh snowfall since last night.

Gulmarg slopes had turned white after about six inches of fresh snowfall since this morning, much to the delight of tourists.

the report said Tangmarg also experienced four inches of snowfall, first of the season while Gurez and other high altitude areas had half-a-foot to two feet of snowfall, resulting in considerable cold.

The holy Amarnath caves had about two feet of fresh snowfall while Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Pissu top and Panjtherni one to two feet of snowfall since last evening.
