Five arrested in fake currency circulation
Bhubaneswar, Dec 10 (UNI) The Orissa police has arrested five people in Kalahandi district yesterday and seized counterfiet notes worth over Rs 2.80 lakh from them, police said today.
While three people were arrested from a rented house at Junagarh, two others were later arrested from Bhawanipatna in the district yesterday, they said.
All the five were Bangladeshi nationals and were staying in West Bengal.
The miscreants arrested at Junagarh had been identified and police have recovered four fake notes of thousand denominations.
On interrogation, the arrested provided the clues on which the police raided a rented house in Bhawanipatna late last night and arrested two more persons and seized nearly Rs 2.80 lakh fake currencies.
Police suspect that the five arrested belonged to an active inter state fake currency gang operating in Orissa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
The arrested from Junagarh were taken to Bhawanipatna by the Junagarh police for further interrogation.
All the five would be forwarded to the court today, police said.
