Snowfall at Vaishnodevi peaks Jammu Shivers

Jammu, Dec 9 (UNI) Trikuta Hills of world famous Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Cave Shrine today experienced first snowfall as entire state was gripped in freezing cold waves.

This year snowfall was late by six days as it was witnessed by the pilgrims on December 4 last year.

As minimum temperature in the plains also plummeted due to snowfall at upper reaches, people preferred to confine themselves inside their houses.

Talking to UNI, officials predicted snowfall anytime at the cave premises as mountain caps near Bhairon Nath Mandir were covered in snow.

There was however, no much difference in number of pilgrims reaching the holy cave shrine to pay obeisance, they added.

As per reports, lower areas of the region in Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, Reasi and Jammu witnessed minor to heavy showers.
