35 passengers escape fire

Kancheepuram, Dec 9 (UNI) Thirty-five passengers had a miraculous escape while one person was injured when the bus in which they were travelling caught fire after a collision with a motorbike near Sriperumbathur Government School here today.

Police said the bus, which was coming from Chennai to vellore, hit the motorbike, coming from opposite direction as a result of which the petrol tank of the bike caught fire and spread to the bus.

All the passengers jumped out of the bus and within seconds the fire engulfed the bus and the bike.

The two-wheeler passenger, Rajasekhar (21), escaped with serious injuries and was admitted to Madras Headquarters Hospital here.
