Set up authority to regularise unauthorised colonies: BJP
New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) For the development and regularisation of all the unauthorised colonies in the capital, BJP Delhi Pradesh president Harsh Vardhan here today demanded for constituting an Unauthorised Colony Development Authority.
Dr Vardhan said that according to the rules framed by the Central Urban Development Ministry in 2004 and this year, it would take nearly 10 to 15 years for the development and regularisation of these colonies, by which time many more of these would further come up.
He held the Delhi Development Authority responsible for the mushrooming of 1600 unauthorised colonies in the capital ''because it did not provide housing accommodation to the people in time and they started inhabiting in unauthorised colonies''.
''A Delhi Unauthorised Colony Development Authority should be constituted, which by an amnesty scheme to the people of these colonies should start development work and provide all the basic amenities,'' Dr. Vardhan demanded, adding that the authority should also ensure that not a single unauthorised colony came up in the future.
