HP polls to surprise parties, claims Mayawati

Shimla, Dec 8: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati today claimed that the results of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections would surprise all political parties.

Talking to reporters after addressing a rally here, she said the results of the HP polls would surprise all political parties, which believe that BSP had no base in the state.

Referring to the process of privatisation of PSUs and downsizing in the government sector, she said this was a ploy to deny reservations to the SCs, STs and OBCs and would be resisted tooth and nail.

Ms Mayawati said she was not against the upper castes as was being made out by both the Congress and the BJP.

Had this been true, the BSP would not have formed government with their support in UP time and again, she added.
