Evolve action plan to reduce road accidents: CM

Hyderabad, Dec 8 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today instructed officials of transport, police, medical and highways departments to evolve an action plan to reduce road accidents in the state.

Reviewing the road safety measures with state Transport minister K Lakshminarayana and other officials concerned here, he asked the transport department to map the accident prone areas on national and state highways and take steps to reduce the number of accidents.

He ordered the officials concerned to take strict action against drunken driving.

Dr Reddy directed the excise department to ensure that no wine shops were located along the highways.

The medical and health department were instructed to set up more trauma care centres in the state.
