Man throws acid on wife

Gulbarga, Dec 7 (UNI) In a bizzare incident, an inebriated man threw acid at his wife at Rekulgi village in Bidar district, about 40 km from here, today.

Police said Digambar married Anjamma, a Government school teacher, about ten years ago and since then he had been harassing her for money. Anjamma had separated from him and had been staying with her parents at Bhangori village since the ast two years.

Anjamma was going to school, when the accused waylaid and attacked her. When she tried to escape, he chased her and threw acid on her face.

Anjamma was rushed to the Government Hospital in Bidar, where doctors said she had sustained 75 per cent burns and that her condition was serious.

Five others, including a girl student, who came to her rescue, also sustained burns and they were also being treated in the same hospital.

The accused was later arrested.
